Mt. Adams

    Mt. Adams is one of the largest volcanoes in the Cascade Range. It is located about 45 miles south of the highest mountain, Mt. Rainier. The most recent eruption was about 1,000 years ago. A long time ago the Indians called this peak
"Pa-toe" and then later it was renamed Mount Adams, in the 1850's. Some volcanoes were renamed to honor presidents of the United States. Mount Adams was named after John Adams.
