Our Site

Tornado Tuesday is a website about the terrible Tuesday, June 24, 2003, when 67 tornadoes touched down the state of South Dakota. As fifth graders, we wanted to make a website to educate other students.    Our state is located on Tornado Alley and every summer tornadoes impact some of our communities. Our goal is to provide info activities, opportunities for feedback, and links to other sites about tornadoes to help students and teachers understand this phenomenon. Some members of our community have firsthand knowledge of just how disasters like this can change our lives.

     Hi my name is Pat.  My job for building the web site was to be the webmaster.  I also designed graphics and did research.  I started a website a year ago, but did not finish it in time for competition.  This is my first official website.

     I did not know how to use Front Page, or how to hyperlink before being in ThinkQuest.  My experience with computers was to keyboard and scan pictures.  I also played games or researched on the internet sometimes.  I learned that you need permission to use other people’s photos, and how to ask for permission.

     My hobbies are soccer, math, and building web sites. 

     Hi my name is Josh.  I'm in 5th grade.  My job was to find the facts on Tornado Alley and help with the activities page.   

     I learned so much making this website.   I didn't know how to find research and how to hyperlink.   I did not have a lot of experience with computers, but all this changed that.   It takes a long time and a lot of thinking to make a website.   This is my first year making website.   I had to get permission from a lot of different people to use their information.

     My hobbies are singing, dancing, and making websites!

     Hi my name is Steven. My job was to make a photo gallery and to research on waterspouts.  Also I made the Powerpoint.   This is my first year of making a website, before this I knew very little about websites. 

     My hobbies are reading the JRR Tolkien books,  football, basketball,  fishing,  hunting, and being outdoors.
