The Fastest avalanche

On May 18, 1980, the eruption of the powerful Mt. St. Helens triggered the fastest avalanche.  The avalanche was moving at a speed of 250 mph down the mountain's north slope.  Mt. St. Helens is a 40,000 year-old volcano that was dormant for 120 years before this devastating, dangerous eruption.
