Cascade Killer

1910

The worst avalanche in the USA happened in Wellington, Washington on March 1, 1910. It became known as the Wellington Snowslide. A huge mass of snow fell from the Cascade Mountains and went down on Wellington hitting the railroad station area. The whole station together with three locomotives, carriages, rails, and other debris were taken away into a gorge 150 feet underneath. Over 100 died.
