Hi and welcome to the Cajun Food web page. On this page I will inform and entertain you about Cajun food. Cajun food is from different nationalities such as the French, Dutch, and Spanish. Each nationality contributed some special spices, foods, or techniques of cooking which were adapted into Cajun cooking.

Some of these Cajun Foods are gumbo, jambalaya, crab imperial, and red beans and rice. Some desserts are beignets and praline candy. I know what you're thinking……….what kinds of names are those? Well, since all of these foods came from different nationalities, the Cajuns decided to turn the names around and create some of their own names.

Cajuns were mixed up with different nationalities like their food. People from France, Spain, England, Italy, Africa, and South America came here and became one. By doing this they used different words from their culture. The word gumbo came from Africa, the word Etouffee came from France, and so on.
