The Mars Rovers

The names of the 2 rovers are Spirit and Opportunity. The Spirit rover landed first and had some problems with its camera for quite some time. This problem has since been fixed and Spirit is at this very moment going about its tasks.

There was a competition, which involved writing an essay, about these was about how far you would move the rovers. The winner was a girl who said that she would not move it at all, as moving it would be a waste of its batteries, as it takes very long even to travel 20 cm!

The first snap shot of mars was from the Mariner 9, it took the picture from a customized camera.
There is a canyon on Mars that is three times are deep and wide as the GRAND CANYON on Earth. There is also a volcano, OLYMPUS MONS, that is more than 3 time as tall as MAUNA KEA , which is the Earth's largest volcano.

One of the rovers will be exploring a deep crater, in which there is possibility of finding ice in, and the other one would be somewhere near the equator on the surface
