Krazy Kudzu

Kudzu is a non-native species brought to America as a gift from its indigenous home, the forests of Asia. Americans acquired this unstoppable plant because of its beauty. Its sweet smell and its dinner plate sized leaves even attracted animals and insects. Americans didn’t know Kudzu was so powerful and so unstoppable. Today, it is named

Public Enemy #1.

Kudzu covers over seven million acres of the deep south in the U.S., and it is still growing. Nothing can stop this growing machine, not even freezing weather or grazing cows. The reason nothing can stop it is because Kudzu's roots go so far into the ground that it is impossible to pull them up and it takes over crops and gardens.

Scientists have not yet found a solution to stop Kudzu invasion. Instead of polluting the air by burning it, I think people should make it useful. Some individuals use Kudzu to make hats, boats, and baskets.
