In New Jersey there is a forest that has so many trees it is hard to see through. This forest is called the Pine Barrens. Located in these Pine Barrens is the Jersey Devil. Some people say that it shoots fire out of its nostrils and mouth. There are paintings of the Jersey Devil that have gone on fire and the fires have burned down houses. The said birth place of the Jersey Devil had burned down some time between 1951 to 1952. Some people had said that they saw the Jersey Devil on Jersey beach. He was said to have been with company. He was with a "white stag," a pirate, and a girl in a flowering dress. People thought that if you saw the Devil it means something bad is bound to occur. People said they saw the Devil just before the Gulf Crisis, the Civil War, and the Revolutionary War.
Who gave birth to the Jersey Devil?
People say that the Jersey Devil was born by a lady of the name Mrs. Shrouds. She said that if she ever had another baby it will be a devil. Her baby then came out misshapen and deformed. She kept it away from others so no one could see it. Then on one night the Jersey Devil escaped from the house. It grew wings and and then escaped from the chimney and was never seen again.
In every story of the Jersey Devil the name Leeds comes in. Maybe its the mother's name or the birth place of the Devil.
