About the Site
The web team, The Hot Five, was formed under the contention of four seniors and one junior of Taipei American School. Three seniors, Brian, Bryan, and Caleb, had known each other since freshman year, while the Swedish senior, Jan, and the Japanese junior, Keita, met the other three at the beginning of the year, and became really close friends.
As a mutual agreement, they met one another in meetings every Tuesday or Thursday in the TAS library to check up the progress and discuss the layout of the website. All team members conducted research on various web resources in order to grab the latest information. The reason for the whole team to research was to make sure everyone was working at the same thing. Keita was responsible for conducting research on Russian space history, while Brian researched on US space history. Caleb read almost anything of space travel from the New York Times and the Washington Post. He was responsible in writing summaries on Mars rovers and other related articles. Bryan had been working on the tech section, which focuses on propulsion and the like.
Next, when the research material was amassed, the process of making the webpage began. Although not everyone knew about web design, the whole team worked to help in any way possible for the webpages to be made. Jan and Bryan were the only ones who knew how to deal with webpage design, but the other three helped. Brian found pictures for Jan to put up to enhance the beauty of the site. Caleb made suggestions as to the appeal of the site to a normal web-surfer, and Keita tried to learn how to use Flash, although it was not used in the end.
The team stood together as a whole and worked smoothly with one another, which lead to the successful production of the website, as you can see before your eyes.
