  • Antiretroviral: A substance that stops or suppresses the activity of a retrovirus such as HIV. AZT, ddC, ddI and d4T are examples of antiretroviral drugs
  • CD8+T cells: Attacker cells
  • CD4+T cells: Memory and alert cells
  • Entry Inhibitors - new class of HIV antiretrovirals
  • Homosexual: A person sexually attracted to persons of the same sex.
  • Hemophiliac: A person with hemophilia
  • Heterosexual: A person sexually attracted to persons of the opposite sex.
  • Integrase Inhibitors - new class of HIV antiretrovirals
  • Lymph (node): Small bean-shaped organ made up of a loose meshwork of reticular tissue in which are enmeshed large numbers of lymphocytes, macrophages and accessory cells located along the lymphatic system
  • NRTI: Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors
  • NNRTI: Non-Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors
  • PI: Protease inhibitors
