Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun and the fourth largest. Neptune occasionally crosses paths with Pluto because of the high eccentricity of Pluto’s orbit. Neptune is similar to Uranus, composed of different types of ice and rock. Neptune has an internal heat source so it radiates more than twice as much energy as it receives from the Sun. Neptune has rings just like the other gas planets but they are very dark and have only been discovered by a spacecraft. Neptune and Uranus have similar magnetic fields as they are both oddly tilted. Neptune has 13 known moons.
