There
are two main types of telescopes, refractors and reflectors. Refractors have
a lens at the top, which amplifies the light and magnifies the image. The
light from the image goes through he lens and one end than out the eyepiece
in the other end. Reflectors have two mirrors, one at the very back of the
telescope and one below the eyepiece. It light from the image comes in the
telescope and bounces of the mirror in the back and reflects onto the other
piece, which reflects the image into the eyepiece. Both types of telescopes
will turn an image upside-down.
