Wind has always influenced man's life, doing both good and bad.

Hurricanes and tornadoes have brought about total devastation of vast areas of land and ruined lives. People have never been able to stop them.

On the other hand, it's wind that put in motion our ancestors' windmills and helped them grind their grain. Wind enabled man to cross the world's oceans and discover new lands. And it's wind that now moves the blades of ingenious turbines and facilitates the production of electricity in an environmentally friendly way.

The idea of this site is to accurately and impartially reveal the ambiguous nature of wind. We hope that both those who have suffered from its disastrous power and those for whom wind is just a breeze on a hot summer day will find here useful information about it. Although it's still beyond human power to counteract wind-generated disasters, people can study their nature and try to predict them before they strike. A thorough knowledge of such disasters as well as timely measures can limit the extent of damage and prevent the loss of life.
