Chapter Nine - Hades

Hades was the ruler of the Underworld.  His Roman name was Pluto because all of the precious minerals came from under the earth.  Hades was quite wealthy, so he was referred to as "Ploutos", wealth.
All the living, who were careful how they swore oaths in his name, feared him.  The Underworld was referred to as "Hades."  To most people, to utter the word "Hades" was a frightening thing in itself.  They made up a word that meant the same thing but with a more pleasant sound.
In other adventures, Hades abducted the maiden Persephone, and tricked the heroes Theseus and Perithous.
Cerberus, the three-headed dog, was responsible for letting people into Hades, but never letting them out.
