Chapter
Seven - Sirens
The Sirens
were sweetly singing enchantresses. They
were part woman and part bird. These
beautiful creatures lured sailors to
their doom. They inhabited an island
surrounded by dangerous rocks. The
Sirens’ singing would have caused Odysseus
to steer his ship into the
rocks,
but he ordered his men to bind him to the mast, just as a precaution. They were no match for Orpheus, a minstrel,
who distracted his fellow Argonauts with lovely songs so they sailed by
the
Sirens safely.
