Argus was a giant, one
hundred eyed creature.
His partner was Io. Io had an affair with Zeus
and so Argus
changed her
into an animal to protect her from Hera's
evil wrath.
Hermes killed Argus under the
orders of Zeus. Hermes first sung
him a
song that sent him to sleep and then proceeded to murder him.
When Argus
died, Hera placed his eyes on the
ends of feathers of a peacock, which
happened
to be her favorite animal.
