Chapter Eleven
- Chiron
Chiron the Centaur was a very kind and honorable centaur. He was recognized for his intelligence by young and old. He was the only centaur bestowed with the gift of immortality. Even though this centaur was immortal, he would end his life in pain. Heracles was visiting a centaur when he became thirsty. He prodded his friend until he opened a jar of wine. A jar of wine was a common possession of centaurs. All of the other centaurs saw what was happening and came to the site of the wine like flies to honey. Centaurs were almost always drunk and were almost never in their right minds. Anyway, a fight broke out between the centaurs and Heracles in which Chiron took no part. Chiron was one of the minority who didn't drink too much. Heracles mistook Chiron as another centaur and wounded him. Since Chiron couldn't die, he had to live the rest of his life in dire pain. As a last resort, to relieve himself of his pain, he sold his soul to Hades. And here ends the life of Chiron the Centaur.
