Did you know that Fort Knox is also a military camp?

Did you know that no one has ever successfully robbed Fort Knox?

People lose money every day. Wallets are lost and banks are robbed. Some of this could be prevented if people would protect their money better.

Saving money is important. From inserting coins into a piggy bank to placing hundreds of pounds of gold into a thick steel vault, there are many ways people all across the world save money. Saving money is important because then you will have enough money to live on in the future. It helps you learn the value of money. When you save your money you do not lose money from going out and spending it right away on things you don't really need.

Fort Knox, Kentucky is a place where all of America's gold is kept.  The billions of dollars worth of gold is held in steel fireproof vaults covered with concrete. These vaults are deep inside a bombproof building that is patrolled by guards with a machine guns 24 hours a day! By law, Fort Knox  is not open to the public for tours or visits.

How do people move large sums of money? They often move the money in armored trucks. The trucks have bullet proof windows, a protective coat of armor, and trained armed guards. These strange looking vehicles often take money to supermarkets, restaurants, banks and other businesses that are in need.

Another way that banks keep their money safe is by hiring armed guards to protect their money from thieves. Armed guards are sometimes off duty policemen. These men and woman are trained to protect large amounts of money.

Thieves are everywhere. So protect your money like the guards at Fort Knox do!
