Navajo Mythology - Creation

First there was the First Man and the First Woman, who were not in the form of a man and a woman as we think of them now. They lived in the First World, but were not satisfied with it, and so created another, the Second World. They were still not satisfied with the Second World and created the Third, and so on until the Fifth world, at which time they were satisfied, and that is the world we live in now.

In the Fifth World, they saw a black cloud on a mountain and there found an infant Estanatlehi, the sky goddess and goddess of change, who became a woman in eighteen days. She was lonely and wanted companions, so she created more humans out of small pieces of her skin, and that is how the Navajo came to be.
