The Dawn and Dusk of Man
Our Site
Purpose and Audience: Much went into making this site, from
the coach to the students to the design and plan. This site is meant to teach
middle- and high-school level students about mythology and provide a resource
for mythological information. Our greatest purpose is to help our fellow
students acquire information about a topic that we are deeply interested in and
want to share our knowledge about.
Who We Are: This is a small
description of each of the student creators, as well as the coach. All of us
attend Montgomery Blair High School in the Math, Science, and Computer Science
Magnet Program.
Anahita (Ana) --
Ana is a junior at Montgomery Blair High School. She
studies Middle Eastern dance and takes pride in her Persian culture, which is a
great advantage when studying myths from around the world. She enjoys hiking,
dancing, watching movies, and running after her little brothers incessantly. Ana
wrote several of the myths on the site and did some French translation.
Tencia --
Tencia is a junior at Montgomery
Blair High School. When not avoiding her homework, Tencia IMs her friends,
sings, does theatre and wushu, a form of martial arts, and paints. She worked on
graphic design, writing myths, and coding the quizzes. She also did the majority
of French version of the site.
Sheila --
Sheila is a
junior at Montgomery Blair High School. She write for her school newspaper, Silver Chips, and is an A-team member of
the school's It's Academic team. She loves to read almost anything, watch Dustin
Hoffman movies, and the color blue. She did the basic layout design of the
website, as well as writing up the text-only form of the website, this
description of us, and several myths.
Min --
Min is a
junior at Montgomery Blair High School with a penchant for taking over the
world. Unable to accomplish her life goal right now, she is vaguely content to
webdesign, dress monochromatically, and worship Nixon. She created the world
map, wrote myths, and compiled the bibliography.
Coach Karen Collins --
Ms. Collins, a computer science teacher
for the Magnet Program at Montgomery Blair High School, was instrumental in
getting this project together. She assisted us with the coding for the quizzes,
with understanding the material required on the site, and with questions we had
about HTML code. Without her, this project would never have been completed
successfully, and we give her the utmost gratitude for her hard work.
The Making of The Dawn and Dusk of Man: We put a lot of
effort into making this website. Because we all attend the same high school, we
only met once at Sheila's house for several hours to plan layout
options and assign tasks. After that, we communicated via e-mail, telephone, and
AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) to review and edit content, to preview graphics and
layout design, and to ensure that everything was conducted on schedule.
The Dawn and Dusk of Man is a Thinkquest Mythology Project
by Sheila, Min, Ana and Tencia of Montgomery Blair High
School.
