The adult mitten crab reproduces in salt water and children migrate to fresh water to grow. These creatures mature in 2-3 years, depending on the warm water. They can grow up to 80 mm. A female can carry 250,000 - 1 million eggs. The eggs take 1-2 months to hatch. When the crabs are mature they can walk on land and live in water.
