The Chinese Mitten Crab was found in East Palo Alto. East Palo Alto is part of San Mateo County in California. It has had many name changes. It was first called Ravenswood, then became East Palo Alto, and was nearly renamed Nairobi in 1968. At other times it's been called Cooley's Landing, Weeks Poultry Colony, Runnymede and Palo Alto. There are different districts called University Village, Palo Alto Gardens, Newbridge Park, Woodland Place, Palo Alto Park, Belle Haven, Bayshore Park, and others.
The Ohlone Indians lived here, then the Spanish came, then Caucasians, then Chinese laborers in the 1800s. Now EPA is very diverse. East Palo Alto became its own city in 1983.
