Information is collected by several things such as satellites, weather stations, balloon packages, airplanes, wind profilers and radar-derided winds. After everything is gathered the forecaster has the most important job. The forecaster has to properly interpret all the information. Then the forcaster has to make a critical decision about whether the weather is right for a tornado.

Information a forecaster has to analyze:

  • Location
  • Strength
  • Movement of the fronts
  • Dry lines
  • Outflows
  • Moisture
  • Temperature -- both near the ground and further up front the earth
