An Imbalance in the Cell Cycle
Normally in the human body, there is a careful balance of cell division and cell death. Cancer occurs when there is unnatural cell
proliferation. This occurs when something goes wrong with the cell cycle. Cancer cells have the unusual property of being immortal.
This means that they never die and continue to propagate indefinitely. Some cancerous growths divide more quickly than usual and
therefore spread more rapidly. This imbalance can be the result of a number of different factors.
