Introduction History Outcome

Outcome

The statue was dismantled in 391 AD, by the order of the current roman emperor Theodocius, and was transported to Constantinople. During that time, Olympia suffered earthquakes, floods, and landslides, leading to the conclusion that the absence of the statue was the cause. The statue was destroyed in a fire in a palace at Constantinople in 462 AD.
