The gardens were situated on the bank of the Euphrates River, and apparently had an irrigation system. It was constructed with many terraces to allow the plants that hanged over the walls to receive water in order to survive. Its shape was that of a quadrilateral, and demonstrated the technological and architectural superiority of the Babylonians during that time period. It is unclear as to what truly happened to these gardens or whether or not these gardens even existed, but many archaeologists claim that clay slabs of a gigantic building excavated near the present day city of Baghdad could be the only remnants left of the gardens.
