Oceanus was sometimes thought to be a serpent-like being that encircles the Earth. After the Olympians came to power the god Poseidon came to power as the god of the oceans, rivers, and water. He was the only titan that was not against Zeus in the war. He was the protector of Hera and Rhea while there was fighting with the titans.
