Interesting Facts About Wildfires

The worst wildfire season, in terms of number of acres burned, was in 2000. Wildfires burned 8.4 million acres.

Scientific analysis of the 2000 fire season showed that most of the burned acres were located in previously logged areas and areas with roads - not in wilderness areas or places without roads.

Trees can explode if water deep inside the tree quickly turns to steam.
