The force of a hurricane can do so many things. One of them is making a flood, so you should probably have a drain in your basement. Hurricanes can destroy harbors and sink boats. They can crush houses and shatter windows. Hurricanes can also make floods outside homes and buildings and just overflow rivers and lakes. When that happens cars can flip over.

Hurricanes have winds up to 74 mph or more. They can rip a house from its foundation and winds even wipe out entire cities. Hurricanes are extraordinary and dangerous. They are one of the most awesome expressions of power that nature can create.

When the weather starts to get rough and a dangerous situation starts to develop, storm watches and/or warnings may be issued. It is important that you listen to the radio or watch the TV to see whether or not a watch or warning has been issued for your area.
