Tornadoes are rotating, funnel shaped clouds that form under strong thunderstorms. They have very strong winds up to 300 miles per hours. They can destroy huge areas in a few minutes. They can form at any time and in any place, but they are more common in the United States during spring and summer and they are more frequent in the afternoon and evenings.

The place where the largest number of Tornadoes occur is called Tornado Alley and is located east of the Rocky Mountains and north of The Gulf of Mexico.
There are many types of tornadoes:

Strong Tornadoes:
These tornadoes are thicker with winds between 110 and 200 mph and last 20 minutes or more, only 29% of tornadoes are of this kind.

Violent Tornadoes: Only 2% of all tornadoes are of this kind. These tornadoes are very big and think with a big cloud of dust around, they can last more than one hour with winds more than 200 mph.
