It is very important to pay attention to flood warnings and warnings that you should evacuate the area. You MUST pay attention to these warnings or your life could be in danger. People should never drive through a flooded street or cross a flooded bridge. If you car stalls in the water get out of the car and go to higher ground You can't always tell how deep the water is, or how fast the current is and your car could become flooded with water, or be washed away with the current.

It is important to move to safe area quickly in a flood. You should move to higher ground if the area is beginning to flood, unless there is a danger of a landslide. If there is a danger of landslides you should move away from any area where water is flowing, and try to leave the area altogether.

If you are at home, turn off the electricity, gas and water in your house and move to the highest floor. Kids should never play around outdoor drains, or ditches.
