Jack the Giant Killer

Another name for this story is "Jack and the Giants Newground".  It is about Jack looking for a job to do.

Jack was very lazy.  His parents keep on telling him to work but he refused to work.  He thought if he tried to work in a different place, he could live at home.  So his mother fixed him a snack for the trip to the other side. But he ate the snack before he left!

He walked for a long time and he was tired and hungry. He saw a big stone house with gold gates.  He walked up to the gates and a man came up and said what do you want?  He told the man that he wanted a job.  So the man gave him a job.  He had to kill giants!

"Uh---giants?  Are they big ones?"

The man said they were 6 times bigger than a real man and had many heads!  Oh dear!

The man gave him good food and told him to go cut some wood with an ax.  Jack knew if he cut the wood, the giants would hear him and come, so he solved his problem by … not cutting wood!

(This is part of a Jack Tale.  Jack always tries to be smart and not work!)
