Forecasting
Before the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, forecasting saved many lives. The forecasters were very hesitant to raise the level of warning. They eventually raised it to its highest level. All of the people that were anywhere near the volcano were evacuated immediately. The forecasters were very hesitant to evacuate the whole area because before, people had thought that a different volcano wouldn't erupt but it did then many people became angry. If they did evacuate and it didn't erupt, many people would become very angry in that way also. |
