Red Wolf

| The Red Wolf is small and about 3-4 feet long, with a shoulder length of 15-16 inches. They weigh about as much as an average dog, 40-90 pounds. Their habitat is the prairies, swamps, and bushy areas of southern North America. In the wild, Red Wolves only live around 4 years. They live to be about 14 in captivity. | ||||||||||||||

| The Red Wolf eats almost any small animal, even birds. A Red Wolf’s paw is different from other wolf species. The outer toes are much larger than the inner toes. | ||||||||||||||

Both mother and father take care of their young, and help with feeding each
other as a family. |

| The Red Wolf is a cross between a coyote and a Grey Wolf. Because of this, Red Wolves are drawn to other species. They may become extinct because they are breeding with other species and not many Red Wolves are being born. The Red Wolf is a special breed, and there are only about 80-100 living today. | ||||||||||||||
