Dire wolves have been extinct for thousands of years. Scientist believe that it was because there wasn’t enough prey for them, they were not very good at catching it. Their teeth were very strong, and they used them to crush bones. Dire wolves would eat the meat from large animals that fed on food like leaves and plants.

Dire wolves would hunt, but it was more like savaging They weren’t very good at “hunting.”
The gray wolf is a lot like the dire wolf, except the gray wolf is more intelligent, and little bit bigger. The dire wolf’s life span was 10 years. It weighed from 110-120 lbs It and grew to be five feet long. Apparently it didn’t survive through the Ice Age.
