Ears
A wolf can hear a mouse scampering from a mile away. Their ears are well built for excellent hearing. The ears are pointed upward and sometimes the size is large, depending on the species.
Feet/legs
Wolves run on their toes, making their legs longer; hence their speed is faster. Running on their toes also makes their turns sharper. A wolf’s walking pattern is different from a dog’s. On a foot print, the fore paw’s print is re-stepped in by the back paw so it may appear that they only have two feet. A dog’s paw print trail is in a zig-zag pattern.
Body
All species range from 3-5 feet long and weigh 60-200 pounds. They eat a lot whenever they catch food so that they are able to go a long time without it.
Fur
Wolf fur can be multiple colors but is always quite bushy. Each species’ fur color matches its habitat’s surroundings.
Tail
The tail is very bushy and may stand up or droop down, depending on the wolf’s confidence. The alpha male carries scent in the tip of his tail to scent each member of the pack as an acceptance.
Teeth
Wolves have around 20 top teeth and 22 bottom teeth. They have all of their teeth when they are about 12 months old. Their sharp teeth are used to tear through the tough hide of their prey. Their jaws are also very powerful and can bite down extremely hard to kill.
Eyes/Nose
Wolves have pretty good eye sight, but their noses help them to smell their prey. They can smell the flesh of a moose from a couple miles away, as well as any other prey. They track their scent until they are close enough to hear it and see it well enough to attack.
