Venera 5
Venera 5 was launched on January 5,1969. Venera 5 was sent to gather information on the atmosphere of Venus. It was very similar to the Venera 4. When it approached the atmosphere of Venus a capsule carrying scientific instruments separated from the main body of the craft. During the descent of the Venera 5 , a parachute was deployed . For about 50 minutes on May 16,1969, the spacecraft was suspended from the parachute and data was obtained from the atmosphere of Venus.
