Venera 1
Venera 1 was the first probe to fly by Venus. It was launched on February 12, 1961.It had two solar panels, each connnected to a one cylindrical body. On top of the body was a dome, in all being 2 meters high. A long antenna sent signals to earth.Venera 1's instruments included a magnometer, micrometeorite detectors, and ion traps. On February 19, seven days after launch, contact witih Venera 1 was lost.
