Venera 4

 

    Venera 4 Launch was June 12, 1967.  Venera was sent to study the Venusian atmosphere.  On October 18, 1967 it entered the atmosphere of Venus and released two thermometers, a barometer, two radios, and other scientific instruments. The spacecraft returned signals to earth.  It also deployed a parachute, which brought the spacecraft to an altitude of 90,000 ft. above the surface of Venus.
