Venera 3

Venera 3 launch date was November 16, 1965. Venera 3 was designed to land on the surface of Venus.  The entry body carried a radio system, scientific instruments, and electric power sources.  The probe hit Venus on March 1, 1966 making it the first spacecraft to get to Venus.  However, the communications systems failed before any data was returned.
