OUR SCHOOL

Eötvös József Primary School

Zalaegerszeg can be found in the south-west part of Hungary. It has got 62.000 inhabitants. Eötvös József Primary School is a suburbian school in the south part of the town, int he centre of “garden city”. The name of garden city is strange, because our school was built int he middle of a housing estate. The school building was handed over on 3^rd of Nov.1978. It has been working for 25 years. It uses valuable traditions and pedagogical news:

Various teaching methods
The possibility os learning languages (English and German) more lessons, children from the nursery can also learn languages at our school.
Maths and English are taught in computer labs: BEST
Physics is taught by EDISON software
We teach informatics from the age of 6.
We have many sports possibilities: swimming, basketball, football, athletics, etc.
Children can choose from indoor or outdoor activities in the afternoon
Religous Education is also taught in our school
Courses for colleagues and adults
Traditions: Eötvös-days, competitions, events

We have different types of books, CDs, videos and INTERNET which help pupils and teachers in their work. We produced our own CD called Eötvös in 1999.
Teachers in lower classes (1^st - 4^th form) teach pupils for 4 years. They use new teaching methods and programmes (e.g.: HKT).
The Eötvös József Foundation, the Parents’ Council and the Student Council help the didactic and educative work of our school.
The teaching stuff is young and inquisitive and always ready for the initiation of new method. The headmaster is Hanzséros Alajos., his assistants are Horváthné Kurucz Ibolya., Németh Ottóné.
