Pluto’s Founder
A young astronomer named Clyde Tombaugh found
something through a telescope. It looked like a little speck in space. It was
Pluto.
Pluto’s Moon
Pluto has a moon named Charon,
which is almost as big as Pluto, and also is almost too big to call a moon. If
you could see Charon and Pluto together you would think that there are two
planets.
In the
1990’s Pluto’s status of a planet was questioned. Small objects were
discovered between Neptune and Pluto. However, none of these objects is nearly
as large as Pluto.
Pluto is only five
hundredth of Earth’s mass. It is so small that many astronomers want to
call it Transneptunian.
