Personal Data   
    Ellen Ochoa was born on May 10, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. Ellen is married to Coe Fulmer Miles. They have two children. She enjoys volleyball and bicycling.

Education    
    Ochoa graduated from Grossmont High School [California]. She received a Bachelor of Science degree at San Diego State University. Later, Ochoa attended Stanford University where she received a Master of Science
degree and Doctorate in Electrical Engineering.

Experience
    NASA selected her in January 1990. After that Ellen became an astronaut in July 1991. Ochoa has been on three spaceflights. She logged over 719 hours in space. Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman in space. When she was at NASA she accepted a lot of medals.   Ellen was a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA).
