Dust Bowl
From 1932-1938 in the Great Plains reigon covering
Texas,Oklahoma,Kansas,Colarado a series of duststorms
hit . Acording to Websters Student dictionary a duststorm is dust
laden wirlwind moving across a dry region .This series of duststrorms
is called the Dust Bowl .The hardest hit area was 50 million acres in
the center of the Great Plains.
In November 1933 the first major storm hit.
This huge mass of dust covered Motana down as far as the
Mississipi Valley and over to the Great Lakes.
In May 1934 an even larger storm came blowing
extreme winds for 36 hours. Over 1,500 miles as far as the Rocky
Mountains to the Great Lakes ,Canada down to southern Oklahoma
.Millions of tons of dust was blown east over half the country. The
dust went from Pitsburgh even out to the mid Atlantic Ocean and
dropping dust every where in beetween including Chicago,Wasington,and
New York.
