HURRICANES
The seas play a crucial part in the Earth's weather.  Waterspouts, Tsunamis, and Hurricanes swirl, spin, and destroy.  Take a look as we go through these destructive storms  to learn and know what it's like.
The Storms
Immense circular storms titled "HURRICANES" are created over warm seas.  They are most common on the Eastern Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico, but can happen all over the world in warm seas.  In other parts of the world they are named differently.

FuN fAcT:  HURRICANES NEVER occur in the Southern Atlantic.  Scientists don't know why.  Do you??

Season for the mightyful storm is from May to November, BUT they can happen all year long!!!

How does the "ocean's anger" form?
  1.               When the ocean heats up, it begins to evaporate and change into vapor.  This heated vapor moves upward.  More and more air comes to replace the air moving upward. In the center, a column of sinking air produces.  Wind spins.  A storm is born!!!   Hurricanes rotate in a counterclockwise (opposite of  the way a clock's hands move) movement. It swirls around the center, called the "eye", the calmest part of  the storm.  If the winds get up to 74 mph, it is entitled, a HURRICANE.  During Hurricane Season, about 6 hurricanes assault the United States from Texas all the way to Maine.

Hurricanes are dangerous storms.  You need to be safe.  Not just during hurricanes, but tornados, earthquakes, tsunamis, drought, famine, forest fires, and every other disaster.  Safety is very important!!  You do want to live... don't you??
