Zeus created Pandora as a wife for Prometheus.  He asked
Hephaestos to mold her out of clay and breathe life into her.
He gave her a beautiful box and told her to never open it.  One
day she could no longer stand it and she opened the box.  With a
terrible rushing sound, out of the box came the evils of the
world - sin, sickness, age, and death.  Then one last thing flew
                                                     out which was hope.
