- In the Northern Territory, there are approximately 200 000 feral horses. There are approximately 54 000 of these concentrated in and around the Alice Springs region.
- Without control, and if conditions are favourable, the feral horse population can grow by 150 000 per year.
- Culling has reduced the number of feral horses on Fraser Island, just of the east coast of Queensland, from 200 to about 20.
