Willem
The Netherlands
Hi, I’m
Willem and I’m from the Netherlands. I’m 17 and I live in
Ugchelen, close to Apeldoorn which is a city in the mid-east of
Holland (near Germany). I’m in year 5 of the so-called
‘Gymnasium’, which is a grammar-school with Latin, at the
Jacobus Fruytier Scholengemeenschap in Apeldoorn. After this 5th
year, I’ve only one year left at this school and after that I’m
going to study Industrieel Ontwerpen (Industrial Design) at
Delft or Twente University. I’ve many hobbies including drawing,
reading, writing, playing sport, computer programming and
designing.
Because you can combine these hobbies easily with making a website, I did join ThinkQuest Netherlands last year, for the first time, and it was through this experience that I met Carol (as coach) and Sigit (as designer). Unfortunately our content-writer didn’t write any content, so we didn’t finish our site.
I found it a marvel to work with this team! Everybody was
super-enthusiastic about the project and gave their all. Firstly
there was Sigit with his magic talent making the site and
design. Our first ideas were that I would do that (or at least,
try to) but I handed it over with pleasure to him when he joined
the team. Carol as coach was there to keep the team alive and to
answer any questions. She really gave us the feeling the team
existed, that we had somebody we could fall back on! Then there
was Anneke, who together with me translated the site into Dutch.
She flooded me with e-mail, and kept me motivated :-) Hilary was
only 14 years of age and it was she who wrote the whole content.
She had to give up a big part of her summer break, yet she
fulfilled her job! At lastly, but not the least there was
Dirk-Jan, our second coach and my teacher for computing studies,
who was not so active, but answered the technical questions. All
together a world team! I hope that you, as a visitor, can see
that back in our website, we’re proud of it! Thanks everybody!
