Sony's Robot dog Aibo

Back in 2001 Sony unveiled its first version of its robot dog Aibo.  In September of 2003 Sony released their 3rd version of Aibo with many enhancements.  One of the best new features is that Aibo has integrated wireless LAN which means you can see what he is seeing from just about any computer you want.  He also has a new growth system which allows him to learn more as he gets older.  Aibo is also very smart, so smart that he can detect when his own battery is dying and walk over to the charger by himself.  Right now the 3rd generation Aibos cost $1,599 so their a little pricy for most consumers.  Hopefully the price will fall when the technology gets less expensive.
