Interviews
How do you celebrate 911?
Mrs. Schomaker (Title I Teacher), “Personally we pray”.
Mrs. Magee (Title I Assistant), “We take time to think about all those who lost love ones.
Mrs. Barwell (Principal), “We talk about it and watch programs that celebrate it and we celebrate it.”
Mrs. Spegal (Librarian) likes to create lessons and activities on patriotism and makes available plenty of books for the students.
Mrs. Lemming (Computer Lab Assistant), “This past year all staff and student body gathered at the flag pole and gave thanks for our Heroes and sang patriotic songs.  We also invited the Ryland Heights Fire Department and Rylands Mayor. It was a great way to show our support.”

What’s so special about how we celebrate 911?
Mrs. Spegal, “Honor the heroes, remember how important it is to be an American and to support our country.”
Mrs. Boehm (Science teacher),  “It helps bring our country together.”
Mrs. Kathy (Secretary), “Because so many people lost there lives and were so lucky to be alive.”
Mrs. Magee, “It’s important to remember how lucky that we are to live in a free country.”

Do you feel we as a country or as a school body do enough to celebrate and show our support?
Mrs. Kathy, “We decorate the school and we have an assembly around the flag pole.”
Mrs. Spegal, “We have a flag ceremony and the Wolf Brothers come and sing for us.”
Mrs. Barwell, “We are working on improving patriotism.”
Mrs. Magee, “I think that every one always keeps it in the back of their mind what happened that day but it probably could be discussed more.”
Mrs. Schomaker, “No, because a good friend of our nephew Brian Williams, was killed in the North Tower. At first there was a lot of support for the family, but that has faded during the last two years.”
